The Spotlight is back! Each week we will be introducing you to members of our community: employees, volunteers, and fighters! This week, meet Strength and Conditioning instructor, Rachael Miller!
When did you start teaching at 110 Fitness?
I started teaching at 110 last Fall, but I feel like I’ve belonged to this amazing community for much longer!
What inspired you to be a part of the 110 Fitness community?
Way back when I was in high school, circa 2008, I started showing up for a weekly butt-whooping at the Workout Club in Marshfield. There was an instructor there who pushed me harder than I’d ever been pushed, and I was amazed to continually surpass my own perceived limits. As you may have guessed, this instructor was 110’s very own, Brett Miller. Years later, when he opened 110, I knew I wanted to support or contribute in some way. I was yearning for a new challenge, and although fitness had become a major part of my life, I wasn’t yet an instructor, so I wasn’t sure how or if I could help. With Brett’s encouragement, he’d again help me overcome these perceived limitations, and I took the leap to become a certified instructor and joined the 110 family!
What class(es) do you teach? What certifications do you hold?
I teach a high-energy, result-driven Strength and Conditioning every Monday at 2:30, but I also enjoy occasionally subbing Spinning, HIIT box, and of course, RSB classes! I am AIT (Adaptive & Inclusive Trainer) certified.
What is your favorite part about teaching at 110?
I love getting to know you all! We show up for a workout, yes, but as I always say, it doesn’t have to be so serious! Everyone who shows up does so with their own energy and personality, and it makes every class a joy 🙂
Tell us about your life outside of 110! What do you do for work? Fun Hobbies? Family Life?
My day job is working with a software company. I work remotely at home in Marshfield, where my husband and I first met 25 years ago (high school sweethearts)! I love antique hunting and interior design, the beach, travel, going to $5 movies on Tuesdays, and learning about all things holistic wellness.
How has 110 Fitness impacted your life outside of the gym?
Life continues to be busy as ever, but when I show up at 110, the rat race seems to slow to a halt. As it turns out, the joy and perspective I’ve gained from being a part of 110 is exactly the kind of fuel I needed to keep up with this crazy life!
